The Michley is an 8 stitch sewing machine – It has 8 built in stitch patterns and as you’ll see in the picture on the right, these include the basic stitches that will in fact allow you to do all basic sewing tasks on this machine. The stitches include various sizes of zigzag stitch and straight stitches.

What do I think of the Michley LSS-505?
I think that this is a great little sewing machine for beginners or those with a very limited budget. It’s ideal for anyone just wanting to do some mending or craft projects or if you need a machine that’s really light and portable. It would also be ideal for children to learn to sew or to use for craft projects. However, if you are wanting to do more than just some occasional basic sewing and mending, I personally would suggest looking at a machine with a bit more to offer.
Pros:
- It’s an electric machine and simple to use.
- It’s available at a very affordable price.
- It gets mostly great reviews.
- It’s perfect for beginners or those wanting to only do a bit of mending
- It’s very lightweight and portable
Cons:
- It is not really suited to more complicated sewing or to those wanting to do a lot of sewing
- More complicated sewing jobs would take more time than if using a more sophisticated machine as jobs such as button holes and threading are going to be more time consuming due to a lack of automation.
- Because it is lightweight it is likely to move around the table if sewing anything a little heavy

Any complaints?
There are some complaints. One seems to be the lack of instructions that come with this machine, however those who have mentioned that have also mentioned that they found the video on YouTube (above) was enough to get them going.
There’s also a couple of complaints about it not working well with heavy fabrics and that’s hardly surprising in my view.
As usual there are also complaints about bobbins and tension that are possibly user generated, especially with it being very definitely a sewing machine for beginners.
